Packing

Moved We Moved

sunny 26 °C

We have survived to tell about our harrowing adventures. That's right. We survived moving out of our apartment!

Moving sucks so bad!! Why!?! Why must it exist? Why must we keep putting ourselves through it? Why?!

We also survived meeting Jorge's mother's fiance/husband (aka Loser). He stayed with us for 2 weeks and 2 days... and it was hell. Why was it hell? Because no one likes to have a smoking stealing alcoholic chauvinist staying in their home (especially when the "hosts" are non-smoking minimal-drinking pretty-honest feminists)!? And no one likes seeing the sweetest woman alive settle for a piece of pond scum. That's our truth and we're sticking to it.

Luckily we had a week without Loser which we enjoyed tremendously and we said goodbye to mom and brother on the 28th. That same day we welcomed K's parents into our home (aka The Packing Crew). K took last Friday off to pack with her parents, Saturday the four of us packed, and Sunday we loaded everything into the UHaul truck (aka Piece of Crap Company That Takes Advantage of the Fact They Are the Only Company That Does One-Way Rentals).

By Sunday at 6pm, we were moved into our furnished bedroom and my parents were on their way back to Ottawa where they unpacked the truck's contents into their basement. Yes, we are thoroughly grateful.

Since our new bedroom is no longer in walking distance of our work, we've purchased a Metro Pass for the month. This is quite exciting for us and we're really enjoying getting on and off public transport whenever we want! No more thinking about making everything happen in two 1-way trips!

On Monday (Labour Day), we made the most of our Metro Pass, the nice weather, and a day off, to go to the Toronto Islands for the first time. It was absolutely gorgeous and we highly recommend it!

We are also continuing to enjoy the summer weather that has FINALLY arrived in September. WTF!?

17 days of work left. Retirement, here we come!
